Your New Role
As an Electrical Design Engineer , you will play a key role in delivering high-voltage (HV) and medium-voltage (MV) electrical infrastructure projects across Queensland. Based in Hendra, Brisbane, you’ll work across both design and construction phases , ensuring practical, compliant, and high-quality engineering outcomes.
This role offers a strong blend of technical design and on-site project exposure , giving you end-to-end involvement in complex infrastructure works.
In this role, you will:
- Design and develop HV/LV systems including 11kV and 33kV networks, substations, switchgear and transformers
- Prepare SLDs, schematics, cable calculations and equipment layouts
- Conduct engineering studies including load flow, fault level, protection coordination and earthing analysis (ETAP)
- Design and review earthing systems in line with Australian Standards and utility requirements
- Develop technical specifications, reports and documentation
- Provide construction, testing and commissioning support
- Review civil/structural designs to identify constraints and ensure constructability
- Liaise with clients, utilities and multidisciplinary teams
- Participate in Safety in Design (SiD), QA processes and risk assessments
- Contribute to continuous improvement and design optimisation initiatives
What You'll Need to Succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Progress towards RPEQ registration (or eligibility to apply)
- Experience in HV system design and underground distribution networks
- Strong knowledge of earthing systems, fault analysis and protection coordination
- Sound understanding of AS2067, AS/NZS 3000 and relevant Australian Standards
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, ETAP and PowerCAD
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills
- High attention to detail with a quality-focused, solutions-driven mindset
- Ability to work collaboratively across design and construction teams
