What You’ll Be Doing
The Data Manager - Engineering is responsible for leading the development, scalability, and operational excellence of our core data platform(s). This role will lead a ‘Shared-Services’ data team and drive best-in-class engineering practices. The role is responsible for ensuring data availability and integrity via the delivery of high-quality, well-modelled, performant and reusable data products. They will be responsible for ensuring our engineering practices are saleable and oversee the automation, and optimization of data engineering/modelling/testing processes.
- Define and deliver the data engineering roadmap aligned to business and analytics needs, designing scalable batch and real-time ETL/ELT pipelines
- Drive best practices across data governance, security, lineage, cataloguing, and data quality
- Build and lead a high-performing Data Shared-Services function (Data Engineers, Modellers, Testers)
- Partner with Data Science, Analytics, Commercial, Marketing Technology, Architecture, Security, Cloud, SRE and DataOps teams
- Mentor and manage team members, promoting continuous learning, modern DevEx practices, and engineering excellence
- Evaluate and implement modern data technologies to improve efficiency, automation, and cost and performance optimisation

What Sets You Apart
We’d love to hear from professionals who…..
5+ years of experience in data engineering or similar technical data roles.
Strong leadership experience in managing and scaling data teams.
Experience in high-growth, data-driven environments (e.g., fintech, e-commerce, AI/ML-driven platforms) highly regarded.
Expertise in Apache Spark, PySpark, Python and SQL for large-scale data processing.
Strong experience in ETL/ELT pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
Understanding of data governance frameworks (Unity Catalog, GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA compliance).
