As the Full Stack Engineer, you will play a key role in the continued development and evolution of Country Road Group’s Shopify Plus eCommerce platform. Working within the eCommerce Platform team, you will combine deep Shopify expertise with broader full-stack engineering capability to build and maintain storefront experiences, integrations and backend services across Country Road Group.
Partnering with Digital Product, eCommerce and technical teams, you will develop Shopify themes, apps and Functions, integrate the platform with core business systems, and support the safe and sequenced rollout of new platform capabilities. You will bring strong technical expertise across Shopify, Liquid, React, TypeScript, GraphQL and cloud technologies, with a hands-on approach to solving complex eCommerce challenges and delivering reliable, scalable and high-performing digital experiences.
Please note this is a 12-month fixed term opportunity.
How You Will Contribute
- Develop and maintain Shopify Liquid themes and front-end features using TypeScript, JavaScript and React.js, delivering responsive, high-performing digital experiences
- Build and maintain Shopify Admin and Storefront GraphQL queries and mutations across catalogue, pricing, inventory, orders and customer data
- Develop and support Shopify Functions, Discount Functions, metafields, metaobjects, app/theme extensions, Shopify Markets and multi-region catalogue configurations
- Design, build and support integrations between Shopify and core business systems using GraphQL and REST API’s, partnering with integration teams on Workato flows and bulk operations
- Contribute to backend and integration services using Node.js and TypeScript, alongside AWS services including ECS Fargate, Step Functions, EventBridge, S3 and Secrets Manager
- Execute high-volume data operations across product, pricing, metafield, gift card and customer data using safe, resumable and idempotent patterns
- Translate business and product requirements into scalable technical solutions, supporting the rollout of Shopify Plus capabilities across Country Road Group
- Partner with Analytics, SEO, CRO and UX teams to implement tracking and drive improvements across platform performance, customer experience and conversion
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting and ongoing technical support to maintain platform and integration stability, identifying technical risks ahead of delivery
- Participate in code reviews and continuously improve engineering standards, integration patterns, technical documentation and platform practices.
Capabilities We Value
- Demonstrated Full Stack Engineering or Shopify development experience, ideally within a complex retail or eCommerce environment
- Strong Shopify expertise across Liquid theming, Admin and Storefront GraphQL API’s, Shopify Functions, metafields and metaobjects
- Solid experience with TypeScript, modern JavaScript (ES6+), Node.js, React.js, HTML5 and CSS3
- Experience integrating Shopify with external platforms through GraphQL and REST API’s, with exposure to Workato or another iPaaS platform highly regarded
- Familiarity with AWS services such as ECS/Fargate, Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge, S3 and Secrets Manager
- Experience with modern development practices including Git, Agile, Scrum and CI/CD, with exposure to Next.js, Hydrogen or composable commerce advantageous
- Knowledge of responsive design, accessibility standards including WCAG, and web performance optimisation tools such as Lighthouse or WebPageTest
- Understanding of retail eCommerce data flows including order management, fulfilment, POS, gift cards and loyalty, with CMS experience such as Contentful advantageous
- Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence translating technical concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences
- A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience, with a proactive, collaborative and user-focused mindset; Shopify certifications and Python experience are advantageous.
