About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Transport Engineer (Program Manager) to lead the delivery of a diverse portfolio of transport infrastructure projects that support safer, more sustainable and connected communities.
This role is responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of transport engineering programs and projects, including cycling infrastructure, pedestrianisation initiatives, road safety improvements and major capital works. Combining advanced technical expertise with strong program and project management accountability, the position oversees multiple complex projects from concept through to delivery, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
Working across the full project lifecycle, the role plays a key part in program planning, financial management, budget reporting and project governance, while balancing the needs of a broad range of road users, stakeholders and community members. The position provides expert advice on transport engineering, parking and road safety matters, leads stakeholder engagement activities and contributes to the successful delivery of wider capital works programs.

About you
You are a highly capable transport engineering professional with strong program and project management expertise, able to successfully lead complex infrastructure projects from planning through to delivery. With a collaborative and solutions-focused approach, you excel at managing stakeholders, navigating competing priorities and delivering high-quality outcomes that enhance safety, connectivity and community liveability.
You bring a strong understanding of transport engineering, road safety and capital works delivery, combined with the ability to provide expert advice, manage program performance and drive innovative, customer-focused transport solutions.
What your experience might look like
- Proven experience delivering complex transport or civil infrastructure projects from concept to completion, including planning, design, procurement, construction and handover, with demonstrated application of project management principles such as governance, risk management, budgeting, scheduling and contract administration.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, consultants and contractors to achieve high-quality outcomes within agreed timeframes, budgets and project scope.
- Proven ability to investigate and resolve complex transport and road safety issues, develop practical evidence-based solutions, and exercise sound judgement in a dynamic environment with competing priorities.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement, negotiation and relationship management skills, with experience working collaboratively across government, community, industry and other key stakeholders.
