The Role

We are seeking an experienced and technically strong Data Engineer to join our technology team. Reporting to the COO, this role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data infrastructure that supports advanced analytics, research, machine learning, and data-driven products. Working closely with scientists, engineers, analysts, and operational stakeholders, you will develop reliable data pipelines, integrations, and models that enable high-quality analysis and intelligent automation across both internal and client-facing platforms. This role is suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, working with evolving technologies, and contributing to innovative, scalable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Build and maintain scalable data pipelines that clean, transform, and aggregate data from multiple sources
Design and model front-end and back-end data structures to support reporting, analytics, and machine learning initiatives
Integrate internal and external systems, APIs, and data sources to ensure seamless and reliable data flow
Collaborate with scientists, analysts, engineers, and stakeholders to translate complex requirements into practical data solutions
Evaluate and implement scalable data storage solutions across relational, NoSQL, and cloud-based environments
Optimise data storage, retrieval, and processing performance for scalability and reliability
Implement data validation, monitoring, quality assurance, and security controls to maintain data integrity and compliance
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement enhancements and continuous improvements
Contribute to best-practice adoption, agile delivery processes, and innovation across data infrastructure
Maintain clear technical documentation, workflows, and standards to support collaboration and knowledge sharing

Required Skills & Attributes

Strong knowledge of database systems, data modelling techniques, and SQL
Experience with big data technologies and frameworks
Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data engineering
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
Positive, proactive, and solution-focused approach
Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams
Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and business requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline
5+ years’ experience in data engineering, software development, or a related technical role
