Full Job Description

Location: QLD, ACT, VIC, NSW (Hybrid)

Security Clearance: Must have Baseline clearance

Working Arrangement: Hybrid – minimum 2 days per month onsite (more if required)

Role Overview

The Senior Business Analyst will contribute to delivering mission-critical digital products within DAFF’s Digital Business Division. The role focuses on supporting large-scale digital transformation through user-centred design, business analysis, and agile delivery practices.

You will work across discovery, design, and delivery phases, translating business needs into technical solutions while configuring SaaS platforms and ensuring high-quality, accessible digital outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Delivery

Conduct requirements gathering, business gap analysis, and define As-Is / To-Be states
Develop business process maps, workflows, and data flow diagrams
Translate business needs into user stories / product backlog items (PBIs)
Perform acceptance testing and ensure alignment with product features and dependencies

Stakeholder Engagement

Engage with internal/external stakeholders to understand user needs
Collaborate with solution architects and developers on system design
Communicate complex technical solutions in simple, business-friendly language

Product & Agile Contribution

Support delivery through Discovery, Alpha, Beta, and Live phases
Guide development sequencing and contribute to agile ceremonies
Work in multi-disciplinary teams using agile / SAFe frameworks

Design & User Experience

Apply Human-Centred Design (HCD) principles
Ensure WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility compliance
Develop wireframes, concepts, and design specifications
Support and promote a design system across digital products

Platform & Technical Work

Configure SaaS platforms to deliver product features
Work with Azure DevOps tools for delivery tracking and CI/CD alignment

Leadership & Collaboration

Mentor junior team members
Facilitate workshops, reviews, and stakeholder sessions
Promote continuous improvement and best practices

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

Business Analysis Expertise

Extensive experience in large-scale digital transformation projects
Strong capability in:
- Requirements elicitation
- Business gap analysis
- Process modelling (workflow, data flow)
- Wireframing and documentation

Stakeholder Engagement

Proven ability to build strong relationships with business and technical stakeholders
Experience working in collaborative, inclusive environments
Ability to influence senior decision-makers

Agile & Technical Environment

Experience working in:
- Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Multi-disciplinary agile teams
Familiarity with:
- Azure DevOps
- CI/CD practices

Communication & Personal Attributes

Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
Ability to translate technical concepts into business-friendly language
Strong:
- Time management
- Prioritisation
- Organisational skills
High level of drive, accountability, and quality focus

Design & UX Capability

Experience applying Human-Centred Design
Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA)
Ability to produce visual design artefacts and concepts

Mandatory Requirements

Ability to obtain Baseline Security Clearance
Willingness to work in a hybrid environment
- Minimum 2 days per month onsite (may increase)
