PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
Provide specialist technical advice and direction that supports the sustainable and efficient operation of drinking water source systems across the
Northern Territory. Support service delivery staff, develop and contribute to operational plans/manuals and implement related programs that
monitor and optimise water security.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The “WHAT” to be delivered

Functional
 Provide technical support and guidance to service delivery on operation of groundwater systems, maintenance planning, efficiency

improvements and risk management.
 Management of groundwater (water level) monitoring program implementation, database management, data analysis and reporting, including

procurement, management and coordination of Contractors.
 Coordinate operational water asset (e.g. borefield infrastructure) assessment/investigations in response to operational issues and advise on

optimal strategies to address.
 Contribute to the preparation of operational plans/manuals and procedures and support emergency planning activities.
 Carry out duties in accordance with Power and Water's safety, environmental and quality policy, safety principles, corporate values and

strategies.
 Participate in the on-call roster by manning the afterhours mobile phone to provide assistance to the business as required.

 Contribute to timely and accurate investigations as part of an ICAM (Incident cause analysis method) team
 Seek to reduce the environmental impact of the organisation through compliance with legislative, regulatory and licence requirements.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Qualification & Skills Experience

Essential  Mandatory minimum 3 – 4 year Science or  Demonstrated experience in preparation and
Engineering degree recognised in Australia. management of tenders and contracts; experience in

 Demonstrated high level of investigative and government business systems and processes relating
analytical skills, and demonstrated experience in to procurement and contract management
writing technical reports and procedures  Demonstrated extensive experience at compiling and

 Demonstrated collaborative interpersonal skills analysing data and preparation of technical reports.
and attributes to enable effective teamwork and  Demonstrated project planning and project
maintain positive working relationships with management experience including management of
stakeholders including co-workers, customers and consultants and contractors
the general public

 Proven practical understanding of groundwater
systems and / or water supply from groundwater
sources.

Desirable  Qualification in water engineering, hydrogeology,  Demonstrated experience with managing and/or
groundwater management or a closely related field delivering groundwater monitoring programs

 Demonstrated practical experience of operational
catchment and reservoir management practices,
hydrogeological and/or groundwater engineering
practices and/or operation of water supply and
sewer systems, wastewater treatment and reuse
systems

 Demonstrated experience working in remote
environments

 Willingness and ability to travel to and work in
remote communities and environments for short
duration
