Position Profile: An exciting and rare opportunity is available for experienced Clinical Nurses to be based at the brand-new WA Children’s Hospice, Sandcastles (Boodja Mia). This state-of-the-art, 7-bed facility will be the first of its kind in Western Australia, providing specialised palliative care for children living with life limiting conditions aged from birth to 18 years. These roles will provide comprehensive evidence-based nursing care and individual case management to children with life limiting conditions and their families including assessment, intervention and evaluation within the hospice setting.
In this role, you will:
- Deliver evidence-based nursing care and case management for children with life-limiting conditions and their families, including assessment, intervention, evaluation, and advocacy.
- Coordinate and provide complex patient care through planning, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and participation in clinical shifts, including after-hours/on-call as required.
- Maintain professional standards and documentation, supervise staff, support education, and contribute to quality improvement, research, and evidence-based practice initiatives.
- Ensure patient safety and service objectives by monitoring workload, meeting KPIs, and fostering continuous learning and development for self and team.

About the Sandcastles (Boodja Mia) Children’s Hospice: Due to commence operations mid-2026.This purpose-built, world-class paediatric hospice, located on the stunning Western Australian coast, offers statewide specialist paediatric palliative care services for children and young people (0–18 years) who are living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, and their families. - Describe how your advanced clinical knowledge and experience enable you to deliver evidence-based nursing care in your workplace. - Provide an example that demonstrates your leadership skills and your ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and colleagues. Include how you have used negotiation, teaching or conflict resolution skills within a multidisciplinary team to achieve positive outcomes. (Related to Essential Selection Criteria 4, 5 & 6)
- Describe your experience with continuous quality improvement and implementing evidence-based practice or research findings. Include how your knowledge of relevant legislative and regulatory requirements influences your approach to nursing practice and service delivery. (Related to Essential Selection Criteria 7 & 8)
