Located 20km west of Sydney on Dharug country, with a population of over 245,000 residents, Cumberland City Council is the fourth most populous Local Government Area in Greater Sydney. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Place and Economy team sits within Council’s Environment and Planning Directorate and focuses on Place Development, Economic Development and Smart Cities, planning legislation and policy development spanning across the Cumberland LGA, along with supporting Council's strategic objectives by enhancing the life and vitality of the communities who call Cumberland home.

We have an exciting opportunity within our Place and Economy Team for a dynamic Business Support Officer who is dedicated to providing business support for strategic planning activities undertaken by Council. The Business Support Officer will also contribute to the overall effective operation of the Environment and Planning Directorate.

The successful applicant will require:

Extensive experience in coordinating administrative functions within a government department, preferably within a Local Government Environment
Completion of a Business Administration course or equivalent, and/or at least four (4) years relevant work experience
Exceptional organisational and time management skills
Experience in invoicing and procurement
Demonstrated high level interpersonal and customer service skills
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, and work collaboratively with other administration staff including effectively mentoring, training and knowledge sharing with other administration staff
Data entry and database maintenance/management experience
Proficiency in performing records searches
High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated ability to efficiently and accurately produce reports, correspondence and other documents
Class C drivers licence
Working with Children check (or ability to obtain)

About this role:

Permanent, full-time position
70 hour fortnight
Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO)
Located at Council's Auburn office, with occasional travel required across Council worksites, and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

Grade 10 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,631.25 to $1,875.94 per week, plus 12% superannuation
The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

What you'll need to have for this role:

The right to live and work in Australia
Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
Participate in health monitoring as outlined in the risk assessment for this position and Council’s Health Monitoring Procedure, as required.
