The School of Science
The School of Science has a strong track record of excellence in teaching and research in Mathematics, Data Science Bioinformatics, Chemistry, Physics, Conservation Biology, Marine Biology, Environmental Management, Horticulture and Sustainability. We offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and have active research programs across all disciplines. Based at both Joondalup and Bunbury campuses of ECU, the School of Science aims to maintain teaching and research excellence through recruitment of new staff.
About the Opportunity
Collaborate with academic staff to translate curriculum concepts into proposals for new and revised higher education degree programs and masterclasses. This includes leading the articulation of program or course vision; development of learning outcomes, graduate domains, and course structure, ensuring alignment with ECU’s educational frameworks, strategic priorities, and pedagogical standards; and performing benchmarking of similar programs.
Liaise with ECU centres to perform market analysis for new programs.
Coordinate proposal development timelines and documentation, managing drafts, iterations, and approvals to ensure submissions are delivered to a high standard and within required timeframes.
Liaise with ECU centres and operational units to develop and document feasible delivery and operational models for masterclass offerings, including resourcing, scheduling, and student experience considerations.
Similar to all ECU employees, in this role, it is required to participate in all ECU, team, and individual planning activities; comply with ECU policies and practices in all aspects of their work and conduct; and ensure the safety and well-being of themselves and others by complying with WHS and EO requirements.
About you
Formal qualifications: A PhD in a science, computing, security, or education discipline. Desirable: training in project management.
Experience: At least 3 years of experience in the tertiary education sector, including STEM-related curriculum design and development. Tertiary teaching and experience in programmatic curricula / assessment approaches are desirable.
Job specific knowledge: Strong knowledge and skills in the application of the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), Higher Education Standards Framework (HESF) 2021 Threshold Standards, and TEQSA guidance documents is required.
Planning and organising: Comprises setting objectives, planning, managing time, managing resources, monitoring progress, evaluating results and taking corrective action utilising ECU’s Excellence Framework.
Accountability: Holds self and others to account and is transparent and flexible in how organisational outcomes are achieved. Takes responsibility and ownership of choices and their outcomes to find ways to resolve problems.
Presenting and communicating information: Ability to organise and present information, views and concepts in a concise, understandable and interesting format for a variety of audiences, from ECU’s internal and external communities. Involves determining the most appropriate format and vehicle for delivering information to ensure the audiences understanding of the message and its intent.
Working with people: Shows respect and tolerance for the views and contributions of team members, shows empathy, listens, supports and cares for others, consults others and shares expertise with them.
