Company Description
Ramsay Health Care, a global operator of private hospitals and primary care clinics with over 70 Australian sites employing over 34,000 people. We have been focused on delivering high-quality patient care and practising the Ramsay Way philosophy of ‘People Caring for People’ since 1964.
Job Description
Ramsay Health Care is looking for an experienced Payroll Automation Lead to help reshape the way payroll operates across our national business.
This is a hands-on opportunity to make a tangible impact — identifying manual processes, designing smarter solutions, improving the use of payroll technology and creating consistent national processes that improve efficiency, accuracy and the employee experience.
If you’re a payroll systems or business analysis professional who enjoys solving complex problems and turning manual processes into streamlined, automated solutions, this role is for you.
About the role
Ramsay’s payroll function operates across multiple state and corporate offices, each with established ways of working. Your role will be to identify opportunities to standardise, simplify and automate these processes, creating a more consistent and efficient national payroll operating model.
You’ll work across Payroll, Technology, Finance, People & Culture and our payroll platform teams, taking ideas from analysis and requirements through to implementation, testing and benefits realisation.
Key areas of focus will include:
-
Identifying and eliminating manual payroll processes through automation
-
Mapping current payroll processes across our national payroll offices and designing standardised ways of working
-
Leading automation initiatives from discovery and business case through to implementation and benefit realisation
-
Improving the use and configuration of Chris21 and the wider payroll technology landscape
-
Identifying opportunities to introduce system-based preventative controls, validation rules, warnings and exception reporting
-
Writing high-quality functional and technical requirements, business cases and specifications
-
Leading system testing, including regression, parallel and user acceptance testing
-
Analysing payroll and workforce data to identify trends, inefficiencies, risks and opportunities
-
Measuring and reporting the benefits delivered through automation and process improvement
A key priority will be tackling manual processes that create unnecessary effort and risk, including manual timesheet handling, reconciliation and reporting, replacing detective manual checking with smarter, system-enabled controls wherever possible.
About you
You’re a commercially minded payroll systems or business analysis professional who combines strong analytical capability with practical payroll knowledge.
You will ideally have:
-
Significant experience as a Business Analyst, Payroll Systems Analyst or similar role within a complex, multi-site organisation
-
Strong end-to-end knowledge of Australian payroll
-
Experience working with Awards and Enterprise Agreements, terminations, leave, long service leave, superannuation and STP Phase 2
-
Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive change across geographically dispersed teams without direct reporting authority.
-
Advanced Excel and data analysis capability, with experience working with payroll, workforce or operational datasets.
-
Experience designing controls, governance processes and assurance mechanisms within payroll or other regulated environments.
-
Experience in healthcare or another large, award-covered, 24/7 workforce environment will be highly regarded.
-
Hands-on experience with a major payroll platform; Chris21 experience is highly desirable
-
Experience with UKG, Workday or comparable payroll platforms will also be considered
-
A proven track record of process mapping, standardisation and continuous improvement
-
Demonstrated experience identifying and delivering automation opportunities
-
Strong commercial judgement and the ability to prioritise competing opportunities based on value, risk and feasibility
Why join Ramsay?
This is an exciting time to join Ramsay’s Payroll function as we embark on a significant program of optimisation and transformation.
You’ll have the opportunity to influence how payroll operates nationally, working on initiatives that will deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, accuracy, automation and employee experience.
You’ll work alongside experienced Payroll, Technology and People professionals and have the autonomy to take improvement opportunities from analysis through to delivery.
Most importantly, your work will have a real and measurable impact — reducing manual effort, strengthening controls and helping create a modern, scalable payroll function.
