How you will contribute to our mission in getting Australia to space:
The below is designed to give you an idea of the role you will play. There will be many more exciting and innovative things to do.
-
Lead the development and maintenance of in‑house RF and EMC test capabilities to flight qualification standards. Lead the commissioning, verification, and ongoing optimisation of EMC facilities, including the anechoic chamber, antennas, amplifiers, measurement instrumentation, grounding systems, and associated infrastructure.
-
Prepare and maintain detailed RF/EMC test documentation, including test procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), acceptance criteria, test configurations, and test reports in line with applicable standards.
-
Act as the primary point of contact for RF/EMC testing of electronics and avionics, including test execution, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and the investigation and implementation of corrective actions for non‑conforming results or test anomalies.
-
Lead continuous improvement initiatives across RF/EMC test processes and facilities to improve repeatability, reduce test time, lower risk, and increase data quality and confidence.
-
Develop training materials and deliver hands‑on training to enable the onboarding and up‑skilling of technicians and engineers in EMC test setup, chamber operation, safety, and configuration control.
-
Ensure delivery of compliance and alignment with relevant MIL‑STD‑461, MIL‑STD‑464, NASA, ECSS, and applicable industry EMC standards, supporting internal reviews, customer audits, and qualification campaigns.
-
Act as a liaison between design and production teams, ensuring electronic assemblies and systems are optimised for EMC performance and testability. Provide expert input into RF/EMC considerations impacting design, integration, and verification.
-
Participate in design and readiness reviews with a focus on EMC compliance, test feasibility, quality, grounding and bonding, cabling, shielding, and facility constraints, identifying risks early and driving mitigation actions.
-
Support supply chain development and management for RF/EMC test equipment, instrumentation, absorbers, antennas, cables, and fixtures, including engagement with external test houses where applicable.
-
Provide feedback to design teams and support design updates when necessary, in response to EMC test findings, compliance risks, parts or materials obsolescence, and evolving system requirements
-
Other duties as required by Management
Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, RF Engineering, Physics, Aerospace Engineering (Or equivalent experience).
-
5+ years of experience working in a professional electronics, RF, EMC, aerospace, or defence test environment, with significant hands‑on laboratory or test‑facility exposure.
-
Strong understanding of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and RF fundamentals, including radiated and conducted emissions, radiated and conducted susceptibility, grounding, bonding, shielding, and electromagnetic coupling mechanisms.
-
Demonstrated experience performing or supporting EMC/RF testing to military and aerospace standards, such as MIL‑STD‑461, MIL‑STD‑464, DO‑160, IEC 61000, or CISPR standards.
-
Experience operating and calibrating RF and EMC test equipment, including spectrum analysers, signal generators, RF amplifiers, antennas, field probes, LISNs, current probes, and associated instrumentation.
-
Understanding of electronic hardware architectures and PCB design considerations as they relate to EMC performance, with working knowledge of relevant standards such as IPC‑A‑610, IPC‑J‑STD‑001, and quality systems including ISO 9001.
-
Experience supporting, commissioning, or operating anechoic chambers or shielded test facilities, including facility validation, field uniformity testing, and configuration control (highly desirable).
-
Ability to produce clear, defensible technical documentation, including test procedures, test reports, configuration records, and compliance evidence, suitable for internal reviews, customer audits, and qualification programs.
-
NV1 Security Clearance eligibility preferred.
Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Manufacturing, Electronics or Aerospace Engineering
-
Familiarity with structured problem‑solving, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies, with exposure to Lean, SPC, or Six Sigma principles.
