About the Role
Fagioli Australia is seeking a motivated and technically minded Technical Sales Officer – Heavy Lifting & Transport Solutions to join our growing team.
This role is ideal for an engineering professional who enjoys solving complex challenges, building client relationships, and developing innovative commercial solutions. Working closely with clients across the construction, mining, oil & gas, energy, and infrastructure sectors, you will identify opportunities and deliver technically sound and commercially competitive heavy lifting and transport solutions.
This is not a traditional equipment sales role. We are looking for someone who can understand the ultimate objectives of our clients, analyse project requirements, and develop tailored engineering and logistics solutions that add genuine value.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Solution Development & Estimating
- Review client enquiries, project specifications, drawings, schedules, and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to determine optimal methodologies, resources, and project execution strategies.
- Coordinate with joint venture partners, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders during tender preparation.
- Prepare accurate technical proposals, estimates, and commercial submissions.
- Ensure all proposals align with safety standards, engineering principles, risk management requirements, and company commercial objectives.
Client Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
- Conduct technical and commercial presentations to clients and industry partners.
- Attend client meetings, industry events, exhibitions, and project sites to identify opportunities and understand project requirements.
- Provide professional advice and technical guidance throughout the sales process.
Project Handover & Market Development
- Act as the primary commercial and technical contact during tendering and bid development phases.
- Facilitate the smooth transition of awarded projects to engineering and operational delivery teams.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, emerging technologies, and industry developments.
- Contribute to business development initiatives and strategic growth opportunities.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Civil Engineering preferred).
- Other technical qualifications may be considered where supported by relevant industry experience and strong commercial aptitude.
Experience
- 2–5 years' experience in technical sales, business development, project engineering, or estimating within:
- Heavy lifting and transport
- Crane and rigging operations
- Logistics and specialised transport
- Temporary works
- Construction or infrastructure projects
- EPC or industrial services environments
Technical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, structural plans, and technical documentation.
- Understanding of lifting methodologies, crane operations, rigging principles, load charts, and transport logistics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Commercial Skills
- Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
- Ability to prepare commercial proposals and manage tender submissions.
- Understanding of project risks, contract requirements, and commercial drivers.
Personal Attributes
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to translate technical concepts into practical solutions.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and results-oriented.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
Travel Requirements
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- Willingness to travel regularly to client offices and project sites.
