Primary objective
Project manage and provide project leadership for all phases of project delivery and be accountable in respect of time, cost,
quality and communication of assigned projects. Provide high-level advice and reports to executive management and client
agencies on the planning and delivery of complex capital infrastructure projects and programs.
Context statement
The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure is the NT Government construction authority responsible for procuring and
managing infrastructure program projects for a broad range of NTG client agencies.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Project manage all phases of project delivery on assigned program items including complex capital works projects.
2. Provide high-level advice to senior management on the planning and delivery of works programs including status
reporting, risk management, needs analysis, concept design, estimates and stakeholder feedback. This requires driving or
flying to project sites and stakeholder meetings.
3. Undertake the role of Senior Project Manager and Superintendent’s Representative on assigned works projects,
responsible to the Superintendent in the administration of contracts to ensure departmental policies, procedures and
Northern Territory Government procurement and construction standards are implemented and maintained.
4. Provide project leadership to construction teams to deliver work projects on budget, time and quality targets.
5. Ensure client and key stakeholders are appropriately engaged in decision-making processes and kept informed through
all project phases, including any developments that may impact completion timeframes, project costs, or the functionality
of the delivered infrastructure.
6. Carry out all duties in accordance with relevant Work Health and Safety and environmental guidelines.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Qualification in project management from a registered training organisation or tertiary institution.
2. Demonstrated high-level experience in a field of work closely related to the duties of the vacancy including successful
delivery of complex capital infrastructure projects aligned with time, budget and quality targets.
3. Demonstrated high-level ability to lead, manage and advise a diverse group of multi-disciplined resource teams on
technical and professional matters with a sound knowledge of project management and procurement processes.
4. Demonstrated high-level oral and written communication skills including report writing and the ability to effectively
consult and collaborate, and build strong professional working relationships with colleagues, client agencies, external
clients, the community and industry representatives.
5. Demonstrated high-level knowledge of the building industry, including design, construction, and maintenance practices,
as well as relevant legislation and standards, to support the delivery of high-quality infrastructure outcomes.
6. Current NT Driver Licence or ability to obtain.
Desirable
1. Qualifications in contract management, construction, business or similar.
