The role
In this role, you’ll be hands-on with designing and maintaining the security infrastructure that protects the department’s digital environment. You’ll work closely with architects and stakeholders to implement secure-by-design technologies, manage tools like SIEM and IDS/IPS, and lead efforts in threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability remediation. Your insights will help shape security strategies and ensure systems are compliant and resilient.
You’ll be navigating a complex ICT landscape, identifying risks and responding to emerging threats across a wide network of sites. Staying ahead of the curve in cybersecurity trends and technologies is key, as is your ability to collaborate across teams and deliver practical, scalable solutions that keep the department’s systems safe and secure.

What you will bring to the role
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining ICT security infrastructure in complex environments.
- Strong understanding of tools like IPS/IDS, SIEM, SASE, and vulnerability management systems.
- Ability to apply “Secure by Design” principles and maintain detailed documentation and playbooks.
- Expertise in cyber threat detection, incident response, and remediation strategies.
- Skills in evaluating new technologies and ensuring compliance with security standards.
- Capacity to manage and configure security tools and proactively address vulnerabilities.
- Experience providing security consulting and acting as a subject matter expert across programs and projects.
- Ability to stay current with emerging threats and technologies in the cybersecurity landscape.
- Strong collaboration skills to work with internal teams, external stakeholders, and vendors.
What is an essential requirement:
- Tertiary qualifications in computer science, information and technology, or a related technical field and/or relevant experience and industry certifications.
- Availability to work after hours, on weekends, and be on call as required.
