Primary objective
Lead and manage the Diagnostic Imaging Service for Central Australia. Provide an effective and efficient high quality imaging service to
acute, Community Health Centres and Private Medical Practitioners. Deliver expert advice, leadership and strategic direction, at local,
territory and national levels, for medical imaging policy, program and diagnostic imaging service delivery.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide leadership, clear direction and expert advice on the use of diagnostic investigations within a highly complex cross cultural

environment to the EDMS, General Managers, Executive Officers, Chief Operating Officer and other stakeholders
2. Provide an efficient and effective service delivery within budget allocation by overseeing, directing and coordinating the day-to-day

activities of imaging diagnostics and expenses.
3. Lead, manage and participate in imaging diagnostic services using sound human resource management practices to optimise efficiency,

staff development and meet department and national policy.
4. Coordinate and deliver high level professional development, clinical supervision and leadership succession planning for staff working

in diagnostic imaging services.
5. Develop and coordinate the implementation of legislative requirements, policies, procedures and guidelines related to diagnostic

imaging.
6. Provide strategic leadership in the design, development, implementation, evaluation, monitoring and reporting of evidence-based

Quality Assurance Programs.
7. Liaise and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders to develop high level partnerships that support the development of policies,

professional development, and strategies that reflect contemporary diagnostic imaging principles.
8. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in

order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
9. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. A degree or equivalent in Medical Radiation Science, Post-Graduate qualifications in a field relevant to Medical Imaging or Health

Management, registration with the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (ASMIRT) and registration with the
Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

2. Extensive experience in the management of a Diagnostic Imaging Service.
3. Ability to provide expert advice on the interpretation of all legislation relating to diagnostic imaging.
4. High level leadership, negotiation and change management skills, including the ability to develop and maintain trust, establish clear

goals and exercise fair and objective judgement.
5. Outstanding written, verbal communication skills and computer literacy, including the ability to communicate and liaise effectively with

internal and external stakeholders.
6. Demonstrated advanced leadership, fiscal planning, and organisation skills and abilities consistent with the professional responsibilities

of the position.
7. High level knowledge and experience in human, financial resource management and accreditation principles.
8. Demonstrated ability to direct and manage program and policy development and plan, implement, evaluate, review and report on

imaging diagnostic projects within budget and prescribed time-frames.
9. Highly developed knowledge and experience in working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
