Temporary full-time, for a period of up to 12 months

Play a key role in supporting solicitors and Crown Prosecutors in NSW Criminal Matters.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is the independent prosecuting authority responsible for the prosecution of all serious indictable offences committed against the laws of New South Wales. We are an agency of over 1100 staff, working throughout NSW to service the main court centres. Our 10 offices have a mix of Crown Prosecutors, Solicitor Advocates, Solicitors and support staff.

The Role

As a Legal Support Officer (Level , you will provide ODPP staff, including Solicitors, and Crown Prosecutors with high quality administrative support in the delivery of an effective and efficient prosecution service.

We are looking for people with high level communication skills, sound interpersonal skills, ability to exercise sound judgement and problem solve and an ability to balance competing demands in a high volume and fast paced environment.

A talent pool will be created to fill current and future vacancies in our Sydney, Greater Western Sydney and Wollongong offices that may arise over the next 18 months.

Key accountabilities:

Provide high quality legal support to ODPP staff, Crown Prosecutors and other Counsel.
Register and update matters; maintain files, briefs, file notes and records of proceedings; organise of court lists witnesses, exhibits, meetings, diaries and conferences.
Liaise with external stakeholders including police, legal practitioners, witnesses and court registry staff to obtain and provide all necessary information and assistance.
Provide general legal support including drafting correspondence, photocopying, records and supply management, reception work, mail delivery and photocopying.
Maintain digital records and systems to ensure documents are accurately collated, well organised, and securely stored in line with organisational requirements.

Experience in the delivery of clerical support services including advanced word processing and data entry skills.
Effective interpersonal, communication skills and organisational skills.

The interview process will be conducted virtually, and no travel will be required. The interview process will include capability-based assessments which may require your time and presence on more than one day.
