About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Counsellor – Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) to join Anglicare Southern Queensland on a permanent part-time basis (3 days per week). In this role, you will provide comprehensive assessment, individual counselling, and case management support to male and female clients who use domestic and family violence (DFV), alongside facilitating men’s and women’s group programs that promote accountability and behavioural change. Working within a values-driven framework, you will deliver high-quality, evidence-based interventions, contribute specialist guidance within your practice area, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance safety outcomes for individuals, families, and the wider community.

This position is a permanent part-time role based in Stafford , identified for a female counsellor, working three days per week (0.6 FTE). Pay rate starts from $53.42 plus superannuation and access to salary packaging benefits .

Responsibilities

Deliver evidence-based individual counselling and group programs for men and women affected by domestic and family violence (DFV).
Conduct comprehensive client assessments, including risk and safety assessments.
Develop and implement tailored case plans and counselling goals with clients.
Provide effective case management, including referrals and coordination with support services.
Facilitate behaviour change programs that promote accountability and safer relationships.
Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure safe interventions.
Maintain a manageable caseload in line with service guidelines.
Accurately document case notes, reports, and client records in a timely manner.
Utilise specialist assessment tools to inform risk management strategies.
Participate in supervision, case conferencing, and ongoing professional development.
Build and maintain professional networks, representing Anglicare Southern Queensland.
Support service improvement initiatives and contribute to a positive, values-driven team environment.

Qualifications, Credentials and Requirements

Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Human Services, or a related field.
Equivalent practical experience in the homelessness or DFV sector may be considered.
Current National Police Certificate.
Blue Card (Working with Children Check).
Yellow Card / Positive Exemption Notice.
Current valid Driver’s Licence.
Ability and willingness to work outside standard business hours as required.
Willingness to travel within the service region to meet client and program needs.
Strong understanding of evidence-based counselling frameworks and DFV interventions.
Commitment to professional development, supervision, and adherence to organisational values.
