About the role:
This position is a Fixed-Term, Full-time role till 27 June 2027.
The Senior Asset Officer, Engineering plays a key role in providing technical support function to the Asset Planning & Management unit. The role supports the planning, development and implementation of processes, systems, tools, and reporting to facilitate the delivery of best-practice asset planning and operational outcomes. Additionally, the role will provide risk-based asset assessment and analysis of existing and future needs.
They will provide technical guidance on asset, engineering, and asset management operational issues (including support of solution options) for health agencies and the department's program areas and offer informed advice to key internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of infrastructure and assets in health settings, asset management, and engineering maintenance, as well as the operational context of health agencies. They will possess the ability to influence others to optimise health infrastructure performance over the long term. Strong technical knowledge and analytical skills are essential, complemented by excellent communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
This role will collaborate closely with the wider team, consultants, and health services facility managers and project teams. The ability to foster positive engagement and support is critical in this role.

Consults, liaises with and influences key stakeholders; produces detailed project plans where objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified; monitors performance against objectives and manages project risks and issues; ensures project objectives are met.

Provide advice to support the procurement and management of contracts, monitor contractor progress and effectively negotiate variations, claims and other issues.

Proactively identify and promptly respond to issues and project risks through exercising excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to pre-empt and mitigate project risks.

Develop advice for internal and external stakeholders and undertake a range activities such as the preparation and/or coordination of reporting products, briefings, correspondence that inform decision making at project, organisational and portfolio levels

Draft and develop material including the preparation of Cabinet and Cabinet related material, Ministerial and Secretary briefings and meeting papers, agendas, minutes and reports.
Qualifications/Specialist Expertise

Tertiary qualifications related to engineering, infrastructure or assets (e.g., architecture, engineering), is required. A relevant post graduate qualification would be well regarded.
A practical understanding and applied experience of engineering infrastructure assets. Familiarity with strategic asset management principles and standards.
Demonstrated experience in writing clear and concise communication material is essential.
