Join the Rehabilitation Unit at Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital as an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) and become part of a dedicated team committed to helping patients regain independence and improve their quality-of-life following illness, injury, or surgery. As an AIN, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of patient-centred care within a specialised rehabilitation setting, working alongside experienced nurses, allied health professionals, and medical officers. About the Role
As an AIN, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to support the delivery of safe, high-quality care to patients within the Rehabilitation Unit.
Key responsibilities include:

Assisting patients with activities of daily living including mobility, hygiene, nutrition and comfort
Supporting patient rehabilitation goals, including mobilisation and participation in therapy programs
Monitoring and reporting changes in patient condition to the nursing team
Assisting with patient transfers and safe manual handling practices
Maintaining a clean, safe and organised clinical environment
Supporting nursing staff with clinical and non-clinical tasks
Engaging with patients and families in a respectful and compassionate manner

This role reports to the Nurse Unit Manager and is supported by Registered Nurses, Clinical Nurse Educators and the multidisciplinary team.

About You
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to patient-centred care and supporting patients through their rehabilitation journey. They will be compassionate, reliable and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team within a dynamic clinical environment.

You Will Have:
✅ Certificate III Assistant in Nursing or currently enrolled in an undergraduate Registered Nursing degree (completion of first year and first semester or trimester of second year), or currently enrolled in a TAFE NSW Diplomas of Nursing (completion of identified foundational units in practice AND 120 hours of clinical placement). – [Please upload supporting documents within your application]
✅ Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and follow direction from Registered Nurses
✅ Ability to work across a 7- day rotating roster, including weekends and shift work
✅ A compassionate and patient-centred approach, with a genuine commitment to supporting patients throughout their rehabilitation journey.
✅ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, Registered Nurses, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
✅ Excellent organisational skills, reliability, and the ability to prioritise tasks, follow direction, and adapt within a busy clinical environment.
✅ A commitment to safe, high-quality care, including the ability to recognise and report changes in patient condition, adhere to safety and infection prevention practices, and learn new skills and systems.
