The Project:
Sydney Metro West is a transformational 24 km underground railway connecting Sydney CBD to Parramatta, with stations at Westmead, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, The Bays, Pyrmont and Hunter Street.
The Linewide package connects the entire system, delivering the critical rail infrastructure and technology that bring the metro network to life.
Project offices are located across several Sydney locations including the CBD, Clyde, Rosehill, The Bays and Burwood North
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Planner to joing our Planning Team on the Sydney Metro West Linewide Project.
Reporting to the Planning Manager, you will be responsible for developing and managing integrated project programs, providing critical insights into performance, risk, and opportunities. Your expertise will directly influence project outcomes, supporting safe, efficient, and on-time delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the development and management of detailed project schedules aligned with delivery objectives
Implement best-practice planning and project controls frameworks across time, cost, and resource management
Drive planning excellence, ensuring strong alignment with safety, quality, and environmental standards
Partner with project teams, JV partners, clients, and subcontractors to ensure effective program coordination
Identify risks and opportunities early, providing strategic recommendations to optimise project performance
Conduct advanced schedule risk analysis, forensic reviews, and time-based analysis to inform decision-making
Deliver insightful reporting and performance forecasting to senior leadership
Support Project Managers in interpreting program data and developing forward strategies
Leverage tools such as Primavera P6, BIM, and 4D modelling to enhance planning capability
Mentor and guide planning and project controls team members, building capability across the project
About You:
Degree qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or similar
Demonstrated experience (5–10+ years) in planning/project controls within large-scale infrastructure or construction projects
Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and strong capability in planning systems and analytics
Experience with Schedule Risk Analysis, earned value management, and performance reporting
Proven ability to manage complex programs and influence senior stakeholders
Experience working in collaborative project environments (e.g. joint ventures)
Strong leadership capability with experience mentoring or guiding planning teams
Exposure to digital engineering tools such as BIM or 4D modelling is highly regarded
