Assistant Restaurant Manager

ARRE — Newtown

ARRE is a modern Mexican restaurant built around Australian ingredients, Australian seasons and Australian fire, with Mexican technique at the centre of everything we do.

We’re looking for an Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our team and help lead the restaurant day to day.

The Role

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who genuinely enjoys hospitality and wants to be part of building something distinctive.

Working closely with Chef/Owner, you will help oversee the daily operation of the restaurant, lead the floor team and ensure every service runs smoothly.

You will be expected to lead from the front — not manage from behind a desk.

Minimum 1 year of hatted restaurant

Key Responsibilities

Lead and support the floor team during service
Run smooth, organised and high-quality restaurant services
Maintain ARRE’s standards of hospitality, service and presentation
Brief the team before service and communicate clearly throughout service
Assist with staff training, development and performance
Manage reservations, table flow and guest experience
Handle guest enquiries and resolve issues professionally
Monitor service standards and ensure the team is attentive and engaged
Assist with opening and closing procedures
Manage cash handling and daily operational procedures
Maintain food, beverage and service knowledge across the team
Work closely with the kitchen to ensure effective communication between FOH and BOH
Assist with stock control, ordering and general restaurant organisation
Ensure health, safety and licensing requirements are followed
Support the Restaurant Manager with rosters, staffing and day-to-day administration
Step into the Restaurant Manager role when required

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who:

Has previous experience in a restaurant supervisory or management role
Is confident leading a team during busy service
Has excellent communication and organisational skills
Understands what great hospitality looks like
Is calm under pressure and capable of making decisions
Takes pride in presentation, cleanliness and attention to detail
Is comfortable working closely with chefs and kitchen teams
Can train and motivate junior staff
Has a genuine interest in food, wine, cocktails and hospitality
Is reliable, professional and willing to get stuck in
Wants to grow with an independent restaurant rather than simply work a shift
