About the Role
As Technology Continuity & Resilience Manager at Avant, you will own the end-to-end Technology Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Management (BCM) framework across our Group Solutions division. You will act as the authoritative SME for technology resilience, ensuring our infrastructure, platforms, applications, and data across on-prem and multi-cloud environments are fully recoverable, tested, and compliant with APRA CPS 230.
Operating across engineering, risk, and compliance, this role collaborates with Architecture and Engineering teams to ensure resilience is considered and built into all aspects of the technology environment.
Key Accountabilities:
Disaster Recovery Strategy & Architecture
- Own and evolve the enterprise DR strategy across on-prem, cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), SaaS and hybrid environments
- Define DR architecture patterns (active-active, pilot light, warm/cold standby) aligned to system criticality
- Embed DR requirements into new system design, cloud transformations, and change initiatives
- Ensure robust backup, replication, failover and recovery capabilities across Tier 1 & 2 systems
Disaster Recovery Testing & Assurance
- Design and lead a risk-based annual DR testing program with full failover validation
- Execute a range of tests: tabletop, component recovery, parallel, and live failover/failback
- Develop real-world scenarios (ransomware, data centre loss, cloud failure, SaaS outages)
- Deliver evidence-based reporting on RTO/RPO achievement, risks, and remediation actions
Business Continuity Management & Regulatory Compliance
- Own and maintain the BCM framework aligned to CPS 230 and ISO 22301
- Lead Business Impact Assessments (BIAs) and define operational tolerances
- Maintain critical operations registers and continuity plans across technology services
- Provide Board and Executive reporting on resilience posture and program maturity
Governance, Audit & Documentation
- Maintain audit-ready DR/BCM documentation, evidence packs, and compliance registers
- Lead responses to internal audit and APRA reviews
- Track and govern DR defects, remediation activities, and risk exposure
Incident & Crisis Leadership
- Act as Technology DR Lead during major incidents and cyber events
- Be a key decision-maker in Severity 1/2 incident response and recovery execution
- Lead post-incident reviews and continuously uplift recovery capability
Third-Party & Cloud Resilience
- Assess and challenge vendor and cloud DR capabilities
- Lead joint testing with critical providers in line with CPS 230 obligations
- Ensure resilience across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud environments
Skills and experience required:
- Extensive experience in Disaster Recovery, technology resilience, or infrastructure engineering
- Proven experience designing and executing enterprise DR test programs (including full failover)
- Strong expertise across multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Deep knowledge of APRA CPS 230 and working within regulated environments
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear executive and board-level insights
- Highly regarded: CBCP / CBCI, ISO 22301, ITIL, or postgraduate studies in risk, cyber, or IT
Hands-on understanding of:
- Backup & recovery platforms (Veeam, Commvault, Cohesity)
- Infrastructure & storage replication (VMware, NetApp, Pure)
- Network failover concepts (DNS, BGP, load balancing)
