As our Maintenance Officer your duties include:
Ensure delivery of an effective and safe work environment, including after-hours and weekend on-call duties, maintenance and repairs.
Operate the building management system to monitor and control water, air, and temperature systems.
Consult, liaise, influence and negotiate with contractors and stakeholders on capital projects and maintenance programs and to deliver quality, on-time and on-budget results.
Contribute to the development and implementation of a risk management program including workplace health and safety, fire management and waste management.
Contribute to the Research Centre quality assurance and recording systems.
Implement facility operational and resource maintenance programs including service, repair and maintenance of plant and equipment, water supply and distribution, infrastructure and land assets to ensure these are research ready, functional, safe and reliable and in accordance with animal ethics standards for project and operational purposes.
Work independently and with other staff, following instructions from the Supervisor and/or Research Facility Manager to successfully complete tasks to support research projects.
Work in a safe manner following Work Health and Safety legislation and the Department's Code of Conduct.
Demonstrate initiative and responsibility by completing allocated tasks and activities accurately and to a high standard.
Build and maintain networks and consultative relationships, foster good working relationships with key stakeholders.
Contribute positively to an environment that values integrity, performance, superior client service, continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of high-quality services.
Respect the scientific integrity of RD&E projects and activities in relation to maintenance and project enhancement construction by rigid adherence to scientific protcols and quality assurance principles.
Utilise standardised administrative programs, packages and systems to assist with site operations and reporting (e.g. AgCommander, Chemwatch).
The role undertakes physical tasks in line with work health and safety legislation and operating procedures:
o Manual handling tasks such as lifting, carrying, reaching, kneeling and squatting.
o Lifting up to 15 kg safely
o Walking across flat, steep, sloping or uneven terrain
o Working with a range of chemicals
o Working in various outdoor temperatures and climatic conditions
