Full Job Description

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Cable Repairer to join our Mackay operation on a full-time basis.

Our Cable Services team plays a critical role in supporting the mining industry, helping keep operations running safely and efficiently.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Trades Assistant / Labourer looking to step into a new career pathway. No prior cable repair experience is required. We’re open to entry-level candidates with the right attitude and work ethic. You’ll receive full on-the-job training and support to develop into a skilled Cable Repairer over time.

4-day work week (Mon-Thu one week followed by Tue-Friday the following week)
9.5 hour shifts

Key responsibilities:

Repairing reeling, trailing and flexible cables
Testing reeling, trailing and flexible cables
Inspecting and fitting plugs and couplers
Verifying compliance of repaired cables

You will also provide general Trades Assistant support as required, working within a workshop/manufacturing environment.

About you:

A strong work ethic and willingness to learn
Hands-on or mechanical experience (Trades Assistant backgrounds highly regarded)
The ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
Good attention to detail and confidence using hand tools
A genuine interest in building a long-term career

Desirable (not essential):

Forklift ticket
Dogging / Basic Rigging tickets
Cable Jointer / Repair experience
