The Department of Medicine at the Mackay Base Hospital have opportunities for Principal House Officers to join their team on a Temporary Full-Time basis (76 hrs p.f.).

Your opportunity
To participate in the provision, development, and maintenance of an effective, efficient, and equitable clinical service to hospital clients; and contribute to the continual improvement of medical education and dissemination of knowledge to staff and clients.
The appointment will be to the Mackay Hospital and Health Service for the provision of services to the Mackay Base Hospital. However, at some future time, the appointee's clinical duties may be extended to other health care facilities within the Health Service.
A Principal House Officer is a medical practitioner in the third or subsequent year of practical experience after eligibility for full registration as a medical practitioner
About the Department
The Department of General Medicine manages patients with a diverse range of multiple active co-morbidities or undifferentiated illnesses above the age of 16 years that require ongoing inpatient, ward-based hospital care. We are a busy inpatient service with consultation and outpatient clinic responsibilities.
The successful applicant/s will be part of a collaborative team comprising of physicians with different subspecialties (including Adult Medicine, Endocrinology, Respiratory, Infectious Diseases, Oncology, Neurology, Nephrology, Rheumatology, IBD, Rehabilitation Medicine and Palliative care) working in close partnership with cardiology (who provide 24/7 Primary PCI service), emergency medicine (FACEM lead) and intensive care (CICM led).

Proserpine Hospital is the largest rural facility and offers birthing and surgical services.
