PROJECT STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

Measure Engineering is a professional engineering consultancy providing structural and civil engineering design services across varied market sectors. We are a growing and dynamic team, that continues to experience solid growth. We have a strong focus on company culture and finding the best solutions for our clients.

Position Purpose

The Project Structural Engineer will undertake structural design, analysis, and project management across a range of commercial & high-rise projects. The role requires a strong understanding of structural engineering principles, Australian standards, and building codes, while contributing to high-quality project delivery and client satisfaction. This position is ideal for an engineer with approximately 3–5 years of experience looking to consolidate technical expertise and take on increasing responsibility in project delivery and client engagement.

Role Responsibilities & Duties

The Employee will undertake the following:

1. Understand trends and best practices in the structural discipline.

2. Manage tenders and proposals, including relationship management of key clients.

3. Analyse and design structural elements and systems for steel, concrete, timber, and masonry in accordance with building codes and design standards.

4. Prepare structural/civil calculations and drawings.

5. Write reports, letters, project narratives, and other documentation for internal and external purposes based on findings.

6. Attend design meetings (office and site-based) and communicate with clients to establish their needs and design requirements.

7. Attend site meetings during construction to inspect works completed by the builder and ensure compliance with structural engineering standards.

8. Manage commercial performance on assigned projects, aiming to deliver projects on time and within budget.

9. Participate in local professional associations to build the Measure Engineering brand and reputation within the industry.

10. Plan and manage project resources and forecasting as required.

11. Assist in the development and implementation of quality systems on projects and maintain general engineering documentation.

12. Contribute to business development activities through both direct (targeted) and indirect (delivery of existing projects and relationship building) efforts.

Skills & Experience Required

· Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; post-graduate qualifications advantageous.

· 2–4 years of professional structural engineering experience.

· Proficiency with structural design software (Revit, AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, ETABS, or equivalent).

· Strong understanding of Australian Standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements.

· Experience preparing structural drawings, calculations, and reports suitable for construction.

· Ability to manage small projects or work packages with guidance from senior engineers.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

· Effective communication and collaboration skills for multidisciplinary team environments and client engagement.

Desirable Attributes

· Working towards or achieved Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status.

· Experience in business development or client relationship management.

· Active participation in professional associations is a plus.

· Proactive, motivated, and committed to continuous professional development.
