This role offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to high-quality health and medical research by supporting the ethical review and governance of studies involving human participants. You will play a key part in providing high-level administrative, coordination, and secretariat support to the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and its subcommittees, ensuring applications are processed efficiently and in a timely manner. Working within established state and national frameworks, including NHMRC guidelines and NSW Health policies, you will help ensure compliance and uphold rigorous research standards. Collaborating closely with researchers, committee members, and internal stakeholders, you will support robust ethical and governance processes across the District while being part of a dedicated Research Directorate team committed to enhancing the safety, quality, and impact of research across SWSLHD.

We are seeking a highly organised and adaptable professional who brings strong communication skills and a keen eye for detail, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You will demonstrate excellent administrative and organisational capabilities, confidently managing competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and efficiency. With the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, you will contribute positively to team outcomes while supporting a high standard of service delivery. You will also be willing to learn and apply policies and processes related to human research ethics and governance, using your sound problem-solving skills to navigate challenges effectively. Experience in a research, hospital, or university setting is advantageous; however, candidates with strong transferable skills and a proactive mindset are equally encouraged to apply.

Selection Criteria
To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

Demonstrated high‑level administrative, organisational and secretariat skills, including experience coordinating meetings, preparing documentation, managing databases, and supporting high‑level committees.
Proven written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with researchers, committee members, internal staff and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment, showing strong attention to detail, initiative, and problem‑solving skills.
Applied knowledge and understanding of policies, guidelines and regulatory frameworks governing human research ethics and research governance.
Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P. Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
