Ready to make a difference in early childhood education? Step into a Project Support Officer role and contribute to programs making an impact for Victorian children and the Early Childhood workforce!

This role is fixed-term from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2029.

About the Role

The Project Support Officer contributes towards strategic initiatives in early childhood education by supporting program implementation, local area engagement and general team support in the Assessment for Learning team. The role is critical in supporting the Assessment for Learning team to execute multiple programs for our early childhood education stakeholders, including the Early Years Learning and Assessment Tool (EYALT) and Transition Learning and Development Statements (TLDS), among other priorities. Key stakeholders are both external to the department (e.g. kindergarten teachers and services) and within the department (e.g. Kindergarten Improvement Advisors and regional office colleagues).

Day to day activities could include, responding to stakeholder enquiries, supporting data and records management in the team and coordinating program activities and communications.

Stakeholder Management: Responds to stakeholders' needs. Keeps stakeholders up to date with issues and developments. Promptly follows through on inquiries, requests, and complaints. Takes responsibility for correcting problems promptly.
Customer Focus: Understands customer requirements and how work addresses customer needs. Identifies opportunities to improve services. Committed to delivering high quality outcomes for customers.

Required: The successful applicant needs to provide a current Working with Children Check.

About the Division

The Early Learning Practice and Participation (ELPAP) Division guides, supports, and inspires high quality educational practice that improves the learning and development outcomes of Victoria's young children in government funded early learning programs. The Division's work is underpinned by a commitment to ensuring that all children are able to access, be included in, and engage with early learning. ELPAP leads operational policy and program development to deliver high quality, inclusive kindergarten programs and to support participation for children experiencing vulnerability and disadvantage, those who stand to benefit most from early learning.

The Division is also responsible for the delivery of professional practice supports and quality initiatives for kindergarten and Pre-Prep aligned to the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF) and National Quality Framework (NQF).

To carry out this work, the Division is organised into two branches: the Early Learning Participation Branch and the Professional Practice Branch. Together, these branches lead work across several key focus areas:

Delivering practice quality enablers that improve workforce retention and recogn ition
Developing and implementing participation and inclusion supports for all children
Implementing needs-based funding for kindergartens
Working with system partners to proactively identify and connect children who might otherwise miss out on kindergarten, ensuring their enrolment and attendance

This role sits within the Professional Practice Branch.
