The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Project and Business Support Officer to provide a critical role within Sentence Management.
About the Business Unit
Corrections Victoria (CV) operates Victoria's adult prison and community corrections system. It ensures prisoners are safely and securely accommodated and aims to rehabilitate people by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour to reduce their risk of reoffending.
The Sentence Management Division (SMD) is responsible for guiding the journey of people through the period of their sentence by applying risk assessment tools to assess a prisoner's general risk of reoffending and identifying their criminogenic needs and matching correctional resources with the objective of placing and managing prisoners appropriately. It is a process of balancing security, management and needs of the prisoner, the community need for protection and efficient and effective operation of the correctional system. The division consists of the following units:

About the Role
The Project and Business Support Officer is responsible for providing a range of high-quality business, project and administrative support to the Deputy Commissioner and their office. The role is also responsible for:

Interstate and international prisoner transfers – assess applications and prepare assessment report and brief for the Minister for Corrections, then organise the transfer.

Prisoner name change and alter recorded sex applications – assess applications and prepare brief for the Secretary.

Collate and coordinate responses to requests for information in response to Freedom of Information and jurisdictional requests (including people who have been deported from Victoria to New Zealand).

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Demonstrated experience analysing policy and legislation and applying them to inform recommendations.

Demonstrated experience writing briefings and correspondence with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
