Full Job Description

Mainland Civil Pty Limited (part of the Mainland Civil Group of companies) is a medium to large civil engineering Group based in Kogarah, Sydney. We are seeking a highly organised, motivated, and well-presented Accountant with excellent attention to detail.

In this full-time role, you will be responsible for completing comprehensive accounting functions for the group’s smaller entities and providing high-level oversight of the accounts payable function across various companies within the group.

Duties will include:

Preparing financial statements for presentation to management, shareholders, and statutory bodies.
Examining operating costs and the organisation's income and expenditure.
Providing assurance about the accuracy of information contained in financial reports and their compliance with statutory requirements.
Conducting monthly balance sheet reconciliations and financial analysis for small companies.
Managing Work in Progress (WIP) accounting and reporting.
Maintaining internal financial control systems and reviewing accounting frameworks.
Liaising with the project management team to forecast project profitability and financial outcomes.
Overseeing the invoice approval and verification process.
Managing the accounts payable function, ensuring rigorous adherence to approval protocols and financial compliance for subcontractor disbursements.
Resolving complex creditor inquiries and overseeing vendor relationship management.
Reviewing and approving high-level creditor reconciliations.
Authorising and overseeing the execution of EFT and cheque disbursements in alignment with cash flow strategies.

Experience and skills required:

Demonstrated past experience in a similar accounting role.
Tertiary education in accounting or commerce.
Driver’s License.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.”

Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
