You’re only human.
It’s a strange thing to say, because us humans are capable of incredible things. And at Medibank, we know our greatest potential lies in the people who work with us.
We strive to make real, fundamental change, driven by a simple purpose: to create the best health and wellbeing for all of Australia.
We're looking for a curious, analytical and purpose-driven Fraud Investigator to join our Payment Integrity team on a 12 month fixed term contract, and help protect our members, people and business from fraud, scams and benefit leakage.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing and evolving function that combines investigation expertise, data insights and emerging technology to strengthen fraud prevention across Medibank. You'll work alongside specialists in analytics, risk and investigations to identify suspicious activity, uncover root causes and translate findings into meaningful preventative actions.
About the role
As a Fraud Investigator, you'll manage a portfolio of internal and external investigations relating to member, employee and provider fraud. You'll assess allegations and referrals, gather and evaluate evidence, prepare investigation findings and partner with stakeholders to drive sustainable risk mitigation outcomes.
Working in a collaborative and intelligence-led environment, you'll leverage data, fraud typologies and investigative techniques to identify trends, improve detection capability and strengthen controls across the business. You'll also play an important role in educating stakeholders and sharing insights that help prevent future fraud risks.
What you'll bring
You'll be naturally curious, highly analytical and comfortable navigating complex information to identify risks and uncover meaningful insights.
We'll be excited by candidates who have:
- Experience in fraud investigations, financial crime, compliance, risk, claims integrity or a similar investigative environment
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify patterns, trends and root causes
- Experience interpreting and working with data to support investigations and decision making
- The ability to communicate complex findings in a clear, factual and impartial way
- Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence engaging with a broad range of business partners
- Excellent written skills, including report writing, evidence documentation and case management
- A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement and prevention
- Professional qualifications such as CFE, CAFS, Insurance Investigation or related certifications will be highly regarded.
Why work with us?

We offer:
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
- Access to our Employee Wellbeing Program
