About the Group
Schools and Regional Services (SRS) offers central, regional, and local expertise to enhance learning and development outcomes, supported by a diverse and geographically dispersed workforce. It comprises 17 areas within 4 regions, backed by 5 central office divisions, all collaborating to deliver improved outcomes for early childhood services, schools, communities, and learners, in line with Education State commitments. SRS regions serve as a bridge between the central office, schools, and service providers, ensuring smooth transitions for learners and achieving the department's ambitious targets. Each region includes divisions specialising in school performance, student wellbeing and early childhood support, working with area-based teams to tailor local interventions and practices. The 17 areas provide crucial insights into local trends and issues, facilitating effective policy and program development and driving child and learner outcomes across all services and programs.
This role is located in the Wellbeing and Engagement Unit, Student Wellbeing and Engagement Division, South-Western Victoria Region, SRS. The Wellbeing and Engagement Unit is made up of a varity of specialist roles, supporting professional practice and service delivery in region and schools, particularly in relation to student engagement, wellbeing and behaviour.
About the Role
The Regional Engagement Coordinator (REC) is a dedicated resource providing increased oversight of expulsions and a key regional point of contact on expulsions issues for principals and local area teams
The REC supports the development and delivery of guidance and resources to enable:
- earlier intervention to support principals and students with complex needs and those at risk of expulsion, particularly those from vulnerable backgrounds
- coordination of area and regional responses and referrals to relevant services where appropriate
- additional support for students, families and schools during and after the expulsion process, including student placement, to ensure students remain engaged in education
- ensure best practice interventions, responses and supports are in place across areas to support students with complex needs and build the capacity of teachers to meet these needs.
The role is focused on supporting a consistent and coherent approach to supporting students with complex behaviours, and ensuring all relevant supports and interventions are considered and coordinated. The role will work closely with other regional and local area based staff introduced through the Learning Places operating model reforms, including Area Leadership Teams, Navigator, LOOKOUT Centres, School Wide Positive Behaviour coaches, Board Certified Behavioural Analysts, allied health professionals and the Education Justice Initiative.
Knowledge of multi-diciplinary, multi agency interventions, trauma-informed practice, behaviour support and student engagement would be desirable.
A working knowledge of the Victorian government education system is essential. Experience in government program and project implementation will be well regarded.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential : Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Sciences or other relevant discipline.
