Full Job Description

Position Summary

The accountant position is based within Fonty’s Pool Farm Pty Ltd and is responsible for managing the accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, taxation and compliance functions of Fonty’s Pool Farm Pty Ltd. As Fonty’s Pool Farm forms part of the broader Wemyss Group structure, the role also provides accounting support to related entities operating across agriculture, mining, property investment, real estate and other business activities where required. The experience of agriculture, mining services, accounting for complex inventory/accounting treatments for agriculture assets and property development businesses is a must, and experience in liaising with auditors across UK and Australian jurisdictions is essential. The role supports management through the provision of accurate financial information, consolidated reporting, financial analysis, intercompany accounting support, budgeting and forecasting, investment analysis, and strategic business support across the group.

Key Duties

· Prepare monthly management accounts.

· Monitor cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts.

· Managing the company’s general ledger and ensuring accuracy of all financial transactions.

· Assisting with budgeting and monthly forecasts to support business planning.

· Assisting with consolidated management reporting and support financial analysis.

· Preparing financial models to assist management with investment decisions.

· Managing intercompany transactions and reconciliations.

· Preparing and lodging Business Activity Statement (BAS), GST returns, Payroll tax returns, and other statutory reports.

· Assisting with taxation compliance, including preparation of information for income tax and fringe benefits tax returns.

· Manage month end processes, including preparation of journals, reconciliation, and financial reporting.

· Ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards, taxation legislation and company policies.

· Liaising with external auditors and preparing audit work papers across UK and Australian jurisdictions.

· Reconciliation and accounting of complex inventories for agricultural assets and property development businesses.

· Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.

· Manage payroll activities and filing of STP reports.

· Maintaining and managing Fixed Asset Registers.

Skills and Competencies

· Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, taxation legislation, GST, payroll obligations, and financial compliance requirements.

· Experience managing accounting and financial reporting functions across multiple related entities within a corporate group structure.

· Experience with intercompany accounting, reconciliations, and related-party transactions.

· Experience in international accounting is desired.

· Demonstrated ability to manage accounting, financial reporting and compliance requirements across multiple business sectors, including agriculture, mining, property investment and real estate operations.

· Experience in investment analysis, business/asset valuation, and liaison with financial institutions.

· Experience in budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management across multiple business operations.

· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling, reporting, and data analysis.

· High level proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, or similar financial management systems.

· High level of accuracy, attention to detail, confidentiality, and professional judgement.

Qualifications

· Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline

· CA/CPA qualified or working towards qualification
