The Nepean Mental Health Centre provides inpatient care for people experiencing acute mental health issues through the short-stay Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC), the Acute Mental Health Unit, Mental Health High Dependency Unit, and Older Persons Mental Health Unit. We support our Patients by linking them to case managers for ongoing treatment and support within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.
Join Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District as a Nurse Unit Manager and play a pivotal leadership role in the Triage and Assessment Centre (TAC) and Mental Health Intake and Referral Team. As the leader of these essential services, you will oversee all aspects of the clinical environment, ensure the delivery of safe, compassionate and person-centered care while maintaining the highest standards of patient outcomes. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, consumers, families and carers, you will drive excellence in service delivery, support patient flow, and ensure people accessing mental health services are connected with the most appropriate level of care.
As the key operational leader of the “Front Door” to NBMLHD community and inpatient mental health services, you will coordinate resources, foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to the ongoing development of responsive and effective mental health services.

What you will bring to the role
- Registered Nurse - Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) AND extensive relevant post registration Mental Health nursing experience.
- Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills and ability to liaise and negotiate with clinicians, managers, staff and other key stakeholders and manage conflict.
- Proven ability to create and maintain a positive workplace culture and articulate and achieve a vision for Nursing services in the contemporary health care environment.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, coach, mentor, encourage and guide others to enable them to reach their full potential.
- Demonstrated ability to ensure the human, physical and financial resources of the unit/ward are managed to deliver safe and efficient health care within available resources.
Evidence of and commitment to patient/client/customer focused care, clinical governance and quality improvement.
