Population Health Insights Lead

Remuneration: Band 4 - $92,305.97 - $115,092.80 + 12% superannuation

About the role

As the Population Health Insights Lead, you will lead the development and translation of population health insights to support evidence-based planning, commissioning and decision-making. The role brings together data, research and stakeholder perspectives to identify health needs, trends and opportunities, transforming complex information into clear and practical recommendations. You will work closely with internal teams, data specialists and external partners to deliver health needs assessments, planning products and population health projects that improve outcomes for communities across Melbourne's northwest.

The role sits within the Insight, Performance and Digital Services (IPDS) Business Unit and works closely with internal teams, data specialists and internal stakeholders to support evidence-based planning and commissioning.

A typical week may include:

Analysing population health, service, workforce and community data to identify emerging trends, needs and gaps.
Leading the development of health needs assessments, population profiles and other planning products.
Translating complex data and evidence into clear reports, presentations, briefings and recommendations.
Partnering with commissioning and program teams to inform planning, service design and investment decisions.
Facilitating stakeholder and community engagement activities to validate findings and gather local insights.
Collaborating with data analysts and technical teams to develop dashboards, reports and data summaries.
Building relationships with health services, researchers, data custodians and other external partners.
Supporting population health projects, including planning, reporting, monitoring progress and managing deliverables.

About you:

A tertiary qualification in public health, epidemiology, health planning, health policy, health sciences, statistics, evaluation or a related discipline.
5 years or more of demonstrated experience in population health, health planning, health needs assessment, commissioning, evaluation or a related field.
Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting and translating quantitative and qualitative data into meaningful insights.
The ability to communicate complex information clearly through reports, presentations and stakeholder discussions.
Experience leading or contributing to projects with multiple stakeholders, competing priorities and tight deadlines.
Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across a diverse range of groups.
Strong project management, organisational and documentation skills.
