Specialist service design role in FEIT workshops / shape safe, inclusive practical learning experiences / collaborate with academics and technical experts

Your next career opportunity
In this Service Designer role, you will shape user-centred services across FEIT workshops and makerspaces. You will map journeys, co-design processes and embed safety, accessibility and continuous improvement into practical learning. You will collaborate with academics, technical staff and infrastructure leaders to turn service concepts into operational reality.

What you will deliver :

Lead end-to-end service design across workshops, makerspaces and informal spaces to enable high-quality user experiences.

Conduct user research and journey mapping, and translate pedagogical and research needs into clear service models.

Create and iterate service blueprints, prototypes and digital tools, ensuring designs are feasible and well documented.

Define performance measures, track service effectiveness and lead continuous improvement initiatives using data and feedback.

Support implementation, change management and stakeholder engagement to embed new standards, workflows and training materials.

You may be a great fit if you :

Hold a degree or equivalent experience in service design, UX, interaction design or closely related disciplines.

Demonstrate substantial experience delivering service design projects within complex, multi-stakeholder organisations or environments.

Use strong user research skills to plan studies, conduct interviews and synthesise insights into personas and journeys.

Create and iterate service blueprints, journey maps and prototypes, validating designs through testing and evaluation.

Facilitate co-design workshops confidently with academics, technical staff, students and diverse stakeholder groups.

Translate service concepts into implementable workflows, requirements and pilots, supporting roll-out and adoption.

You will join the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology’s Infrastructure Team, supporting world-class teaching and research spaces. The Workshop, Makerspaces and Engagement team enables safe, high-quality, hands-on learning through technical environments and strong support . You will work with academics, technical experts and service specialists to shape scalable, user-centred services. Together, you will contribute to a forward-looking faculty committed to impactful, inclusive engineering and IT.
