About the Role

The Senior Manager, Investigations is a newly created leadership role that will provide strategic oversight of the Investigations function. Reporting to the Associate Director, Complaints and Investigations, you will lead a team of investigators who will investigate workplace matters, student misconduct matters, compliance breaches and complex grievances. The role plays a critical part in ensuring the University manages complaints and investigations effectively, consistently, and in accordance with legislative and policy requirements.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced leader to shape a growing function, influence organisational practice, and contribute to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for staff and students.

About the Team

The Complaints and Investigations team is part of the Legal, Assurance and Integrity Division and is dedicated to fostering a culture of integrity, accountability, safety, and respect across the University. The team provides expert advice and case management support for complex complaints and conduct matters, working collaboratively with stakeholders across People & Culture, Student Services, the Legal Office, faculties, residences, and external agencies.

As the team continues to evolve, there is a strong focus on continuous improvement, best practice, and delivering fair, transparent, and trauma-informed services

What You’ll Bring

You will be a confident and collaborative leader with extensive experience in complaints management, conduct, investigations, governance, compliance, or a related advisory environment.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, compliance HR, industrial relations, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated experience leading complex workplace investigations.
Strong knowledge of employment law, enterprise agreements, and procedural fairness, including application of trauma-informed practice in investigations.
Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
High-level interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Proven ability to manage risk and provide strategic advice.
Experience in higher education or public sector environments, including strong understanding of the requirements of the National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence 2025 or ability to quickly acquire same.
