Full Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a friendly, professional, and organised Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients and will play an important role in providing a welcoming, efficient, and supportive experience.

Key Responsibilities

Greet patients and provide friendly, professional customer service.
Answer and manage incoming phone calls and enquiries.
Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments.
Register new patients and update existing patient records.
Process payments, Medicare claims, and private health insurance claims where applicable.
Maintain accurate and confidential patient information.
Liaise with doctors, nurses, allied health professionals, and other staff.
Manage referrals, correspondence, medical records, and other administrative tasks.
Process incoming and outgoing correspondence.
Assist with maintaining an organised and welcoming reception and waiting area.
Follow practice policies, procedures, privacy requirements, and infection-control guidelines.
Handle patient enquiries and concerns in a professional and compassionate manner.
Perform general administrative duties as required.

Essential Skills & Experience

Previous experience in medical reception or healthcare administration is desirable, but experience is not required training will be provided to the right candidate.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and privacy.
Professional, friendly, and compassionate manner.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Competent computer and administrative skills.
Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy healthcare environment.
