About Inland Rail
Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities.
The Illabo to Stockinbingal project is about 39km of new rail corridor located within the local government areas of Junee and Cootamundra-Gundagai. This new section of rail corridor will provide a direct route from east of Illabo, tracking north to Stockinbingal and connecting into the existing Forbes rail line.
About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Signalling Project Engineer to join the team on our Cootamundra based project.
The Signalling Project Engineer will help lead engineering activities for the Illabo to Stockinbingal Inland Rail project, managing planning, forecasting, safety and compliance. The role oversees subcontractors, prepares documentation, and supports construction delivery. It suits an experienced rail signalling professional ready to work onsite on a major national infrastructure project.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Lead a team of engineers to assist with delivery of scope and cost estimating of works, including cost forecasting
- Assist engineering team to achieve approvals where required
- Preparation of both short- and longer-term detailed construction plans and targets as required
- Utilise effective time management skills including sequencing of work of own and resource time management
- Provide required reports to the Signalling Construction Manager to meet monthly reporting timelines
- Lead a team of engineers to prepare relevant QA & safety documentation to achieve handover
- Demonstrate sound people management skills by managing work and performance of subcontractors to achieve outcomes
- Assist the Superintendent and Site Engineers in routinely providing all relevant information required for the timely compilation and submission of all necessary Applications and Permits
To be successful in this key role, you must have:
- Tertiary qualifications Construction / Engineering Discipline
- Minimum 4 years engineering experience
- Previous work in a Rail environment, including Rail Signalling Systems
- Project Engineer and operational experience
- Knowledge of project management structure, plans, specification, standards and implications for project accountabilities
- Understanding of the Project Design Management Plan, Quality Management Plan. Safety Management Plan and Environmental Management Plan
- Pre-contracts knowledge in relation to design, planning and legislative requirements
About you:
- Experience on complex Rail/Infrastructure projects
- Willing to DIDO
- Be open to working a 2:1 roster (2 weeks on / 1 week off)
- Or, willing to relocate yourself within an hour’s commute of Cootamundra/Stockinbingal.
