Your Role in Critical Care
Based within the ICU/HDU at Lyell McEwin Health Service under the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN), you'll deliver evidence-based nursing care to critically and acutely unwell patients. This is a part-time, fixed-term contract position through to 30 July 2027. Key responsibilities include:
Providing skilled, patient-centred nursing care within the ICU/HDU setting across a range of complex presentations
Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualised care plans
Monitoring, assessing, and responding to changes in patient condition with clinical confidence
Contributing to a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement within the unit
What You Bring
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
Demonstrated experience in an ICU, HDU, or critical care environment
Sound knowledge of critical care principles and the ability to manage high-dependency patients
Effective communication skills and a commitment to person-centred, safe care delivery
Ability to work collaboratively within NALHN's multidisciplinary model of care
Current immunisation compliance in line with SA Health's requirements for clinical staff
To be eligible for this position, you must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.

NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home-based services across multiple sites in Adelaide’s north and north-eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.
Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
