The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced and creative Head Pastry Chef to lead the pastry section at SK Steak & Oyster.

This is a hands-on leadership role for a talented pastry professional who takes pride in creating beautifully executed desserts and pastry items. You’ll oversee all aspects of pastry operations, from menu development and daily production through to team leadership, quality control and cost management.

The hours are predominantly mornings and will include weekend work and occasional evening shifts.

Your Role

As Head Pastry Chef, you’ll lead the development and delivery of SK Steak & Oyster’s pastry and dessert offering while maintaining the exceptional standards the venue is known for.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading the daily operation of the pastry section
Developing and refining seasonal dessert and pastry menus
Preparing and producing high-quality desserts, pastries and pastry components
Ensuring exceptional presentation, flavour and consistency across every service
Managing daily preparation, production schedules and mise en place
Training, mentoring and supporting pastry team members
Allocating duties and ensuring the pastry section is organised, stocked and service-ready
Working closely with the Executive Chef and senior kitchen team on menu development
Maintaining recipe specifications, portion control and presentation standards
Managing food costs, stock levels, ordering and supplier requirements
Maintaining the highest food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards
Contributing creativity and new ideas to the continued development of the SK dessert offering
Working collaboratively with the wider kitchen and front-of-house teams

About You

We’d love to hear from you if you have:

Previous experience as a Head Pastry Chef, Pastry Sous Chef or senior pastry professional in a premium hospitality environment
Strong leadership skills with experience training and developing pastry teams
Advanced pastry skills, including dessert presentation, seasonal menu development and recipe standards
Excellent organisation and attention to detail, with a strong understanding of food costs, stock management and waste reduction
Availability to work mornings, weekends and occasional evenings, with full working rights in Australia
