Full Job Description

We currently have a full-time opportunity for a Handyman. Join our Health and Education team at Sunshine Coast University Hospital and play a key role in providing general handyman services to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for patients, staff, and visitors. Reporting to the Program Manager, you'll help deliver high-quality outcomes that support our essential services.

The role is Monday to Friday 7am – 3pm with generous overtime available and will require some afterhours work.

What You’ll Do (key responsibilities)

This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:

Perform minor repairs to Hospital building and equipment.
Conduct scheduled inspections and servicing of hospital equipment, fittings, and infrastructure as required.
Ensure all work complies with hospital safety standards, infection control, and regulatory requirements.
Respond promptly to urgent requests as required and directed.
Work closely with hospital staff, contractors, and the projects team to prioritize tasks.
Maintain logs of completed work, inspections, and materials used.
Safely operate tools, machinery, and maintenance equipment.
Assist with furniture assembly, relocation of equipment, and general upkeep of hospital facility.
Assist the project team with painting services as required.

What You’ll Bring (experience required)

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of general repairs / maintenance, tools, and materials
Certificate or trade qualification (preferred).
Previous experience in maintenance or handyman roles (hospital or healthcare setting preferred)
Knowledge of OHS regulations and safe handling of hazardous materials.
Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
Good communication and teamwork skills.

**Please note, as a prerequisite for this role candidates will be required to complete work rights check, pre-employment medical check, Working with Children Check, National Police History certificate and reference checks.
