The SESLHD Mental Health Service is a specialised clinical service, providing care to a local population of over 930,000 residents in the Sydney metropolitan area. We provide care within both hospital and community settings to support people living with mental illness at times when acute intervention is needed, or to remain well in their community and lead their own recovery.

Are you a Social Worker with experience in Mental Health and want to positively impact on the lives of Mental Health consumers on their journey to recovery? Join our compassionate team providing innovative care.

To work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team setting and provide a high quality service to clients and families in the Inpatient Mental health Unit. Complete bio- psychosocial assessments and interventions with relation to;family issues, accommodation issues, income and other issues, violence issues, child protection, domestic violence, prevention of sexual assault/abuse and elder abuse. Provide appropriate interventions in collaboration with the treating team. Working collaboratively with the Professional Head of Social Work in the provision of a high quality social work service.

If you are an overseas qualified Social Worker, you are required to have your qualifications assessed by the AASW to meet the position criteria.

Selection Criteria:

Hold as a minimum a bachelor’s degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), or other qualification deemed equivalent by the employer.

Understanding of both the Mental Health and Guardianship Acts and their applicability to this role.

Demonstrated ability to provide effective and a broad range of Social Worker interventions within an acute setting.

Demonstrated high level interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Understanding of recovery focused care and principles within an acute mental health setting.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Demonstrated skills in computer literacy.

Current Drivers Licence.
