Truganina South Primary School is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) development in the Wyndham North network area that opened in 2011. The school caters for all year levels from P-6 and has a current student enrolment of approximately 540 students., with grades arranged in straight year levels. The school is located on Parkvista Drive and Federation Boulevard Truganina South and the majority of the students are drawn from the local area.
The state-of-the-art facility provides critical infrastructure that brings together the best in contemporary educational design and promotes active student-centred learning through the creation of flexible, functional spaces.
Truganina South Primary School has a highly experienced and committed school leadership team comprising of the Principal, 2 x Assistant Principals, Leading Teachers (2 x Curriculum & Assessment and 2 x Wellbeing and Inclusion). The school undertook a school review in late 2024 and is in the second year of its strategic plan implementation.
At Truganina South Primary School, the child is at the centre and purpose of all that we do. All teachers and students work in home groups, to support the development of strong student-teacher relationships. The school has a large classroom education support staffing profile, with a staff member in most learning spaces to provide targeted support to students.

The key components of the teaching programs at Truganina South Primary School are the effective teaching of literacy and numeracy. All staff are responsible for improved student learning outcomes.
Truganina South Primary School adopted the University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI) systematic synthetic phonics program implemented across Prep to Year 2 in 2025, consistent with the Department¿s approach to teaching Reading F-2. This is also used as an intervention program across Year 3-6 to provide targeted support to students. In 2026, the school adopted OCHRE for its mathematics program across Prep to Year 6 to support teachers to implement a systematic approach to the delivery of the Victorian Curriculum ¿ Mathematics.
Truganina South Primary school provides high quality specialists programs in; Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Science, LOTE (Mandarin) and Physical Education.
The school has established multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and is continuing to refine its practices, including engaging with the School Wide Positive Behaviour Coaching in 2026 and 2027. The school has a dedicated student wellbeing hub which facilitates a number of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions from the Mental Health Fund menu in addition to school-based speech pathologist and education support groups. The relationships between the staff, students and parents are a fundamental strength at Truganina South Primary School. Parent involvement and participation in a variety of school activities are a significant feature of our school life and are actively encouraged and greatly valued. The school is currently in partnership with Community Hubs Australia and employs a community hub leader to run several programs to engage the wider school community. As part of the community hub Mercy Health currently operate a school-based paediatric clinic providing high level care and support to our families via a school-based referral process.
In partnership with the YMCA, a long day care and a community centre are features of the school site providing community and children's services in the one location where families need them the most.

The primary focus of the range 1 classroom teacher is on further developing skills and competencies to become an effective classroom practitioner with structured support and guidance from teachers at higher levels and the planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
These teachers teach a range of students/classes and are accountable for the effective delivery of their programs. Range 1 classroom teachers are skilled teachers who operate under general direction within clear guidelines following established work practices and documented priorities and may have responsibility for the supervision and training of one or more student teachers.
At range 1, teachers participate in the development of school policies and programs and assist in the implementation of school priorities.
The focus of a range 1 classroom teacher is on classroom management, subject content and teaching practice. New entrants to the teaching profession in their initial teaching years receive structured support, mentoring and guidance from teachers at higher levels.
Under guidance, new entrants to the teaching profession will plan and teach student groups in one or more subjects and are expected to participate in induction programs and other professional learning activities that are designed to ensure the integration of curriculum, assessment and pedagogy across the school.
Teachers at range 1 are responsible for teaching their own classes and may also assist and participate in policy development, project teams and the organisation of co-curricula activities.
Core responsibilities include:
- Planning and implementing a range of teaching programs or courses of study
- Teaching an area of the curriculum or a general curriculum to a year level
- Monitoring, evaluating and reporting student progress in key learning areas
- Implementing strategies to achieve targets related to student learning outcomes
- Maintaining records of class attendance and recording student progress
- Implementing effective student management consistent with the school charter.
- Working with a mentor to participate in professional development planning, implementation and reflection developing a professional portfolio
Additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Supervising a range of student activities including support and welfare programs
- Contributing to a range of co-curricular programs
