Full Job Description

Steel Distribution & Processing Workshop

We are seeking a motivated and reliable Picker and Packer to join our warehouse and workshop team. This role is suited to someone who enjoys hands-on work, takes pride in accuracy and organisation, and can work effectively in a busy industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Pick steel products and materials accurately according to customer orders and job requirements
Check quantities, sizes, specifications, and job details before packing
Pack and prepare steel products safely and securely for customer deliveries
Ensure picked and packed orders are clearly identified and ready for dispatch
Assist with loading and preparing materials for delivery
Move and organise materials throughout the warehouse and workshop as required
Assist with material preparation and general workshop duties
Check finished orders for accuracy and report any discrepancies or issues to supervisors
Maintain organised stock locations and ensure materials are stored safely
Complete basic paperwork, job tracking, and system updates where required
Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment
Follow all workplace procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards
Work closely with warehouse staff, supervisors, production operators, and drivers to ensure orders are prepared on time

Skills & Attributes

Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good organisational and time-management skills
Reliable, punctual, and committed to completing tasks to a high standard
Physically fit and comfortable with hands-on work
Ability to work safely around steel products, machinery, forklifts, and other workshop equipment
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
Willingness to learn new processes, equipment, and systems
Ability to work in a fast-paced workshop and meet daily deadlines
Previous experience in steel, manufacturing, warehousing, picking and packing, or a similar environment is advantageous but not essential
Forklift licence would be an advantage but is not essential
