Front of House Staff Job Description

Indian & Nepalese Restaurant

Position: Front of House Staff (Waitstaff/Cashier/Customer Service)Reports To: Restaurant Manager

Position Summary

The Front of House Staff is responsible for providing excellent customer service, ensuring guests have a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience, taking orders accurately, serving food and beverages, handling payments, and maintaining cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

Welcome and seat guests in a friendly and professional manner.
Present menus and explain Indian and Nepalese dishes when required.
Answer customer questions regarding ingredients, spice levels, and dietary requirements.
Ensure guests receive prompt and attentive service throughout their visit.
Handle customer feedback and complaints professionally and escalate issues to management when necessary.

Order Taking & Service

Take food and beverage orders accurately using the POS system.
Communicate orders clearly to kitchen staff.
Serve food and beverages promptly and according to restaurant standards.
Check customer satisfaction during meals and respond to requests efficiently.
Clear and reset tables quickly to maintain smooth service flow.

Cash Handling

Process cash, EFTPOS, and online payments accurately.
Issue receipts and reconcile transactions at the end of shifts.
Maintain honesty and accuracy when handling money.

Restaurant Presentation

Keep dining areas clean, tidy, and presentable at all times.
Set up tables, cutlery, napkins, and service stations before service.
Assist with opening and closing procedures.
Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.

Teamwork

Work closely with kitchen and management teams to ensure efficient service.
Assist colleagues during busy periods.
Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.

Skills & Qualifications

Previous hospitality or restaurant experience preferred.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong teamwork and multitasking abilities.
Basic knowledge of Indian and Nepalese cuisine is desirable.
Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate (if serving alcohol).
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
