About the Role

As a Residential Youth Worker, you will support children and young people within a residential care environment by providing day-to-day care, emotional support, structure, and guidance.

You will work within therapeutic and trauma-informed frameworks to help young people develop independence, emotional regulation, life skills, and positive relationships.

This role involves a rotating roster, including:

Day shifts
Afternoon shifts
Sleepover shifts
Night shifts
Weekend work
Split shifts

Key Responsibilities

Provide daily care, supervision, and emotional support to young people
Support routines, education, appointments, recreational activities, and community participation
Build positive and professional relationships with young people
Implement care plans, behaviour support strategies, and therapeutic frameworks
Respond calmly and safely to challenging behaviours and crisis situations
Support young people to develop life skills, independence, and emotional regulation
Maintain accurate documentation, shift reports, and case notes
Contribute positively to team culture, communication, and planning
Promote culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive environments
Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical practice
Participate in outreach support where required

Experience in residential care or community services is highly regarded, however we also value transferable life experience, emotional intelligence, and a genuine desire to support vulnerable young people.

Mandatory Requirements

Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential Care) or related field (completed or currently enrolled)
Current Queensland Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)
Current Driver’s Licence
National Police Check (within the last 3 months)
Ability to complete rotating rosters including sleepovers
