About the Role
As a Residential Youth Worker, you will support children and young people within a residential care environment by providing day-to-day care, emotional support, structure, and guidance.
You will work within therapeutic and trauma-informed frameworks to help young people develop independence, emotional regulation, life skills, and positive relationships.
This role involves a rotating roster, including:

Day shifts
- Afternoon shifts
- Sleepover shifts
- Night shifts
- Weekend work
- Split shifts
Key Responsibilities

Provide daily care, supervision, and emotional support to young people
- Support routines, education, appointments, recreational activities, and community participation
- Build positive and professional relationships with young people
- Implement care plans, behaviour support strategies, and therapeutic frameworks
- Respond calmly and safely to challenging behaviours and crisis situations
- Support young people to develop life skills, independence, and emotional regulation
- Maintain accurate documentation, shift reports, and case notes
- Contribute positively to team culture, communication, and planning
- Promote culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive environments
- Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and ethical practice
- Participate in outreach support where required

Experience in residential care or community services is highly regarded, however we also value transferable life experience, emotional intelligence, and a genuine desire to support vulnerable young people.
Mandatory Requirements

Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential Care) or related field (completed or currently enrolled)
- Current Queensland Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)
- Current Driver’s Licence
- National Police Check (within the last 3 months)
- Ability to complete rotating rosters including sleepovers
