About the Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre
We are a client-centred organisation, supporting the community throughout Barwon, Wimmera, and the South West regions, offering a range of specialist support services to people impacted by sexual and family violence, encompassing 24 hour crisis care, specialist response services, early intervention programs, Victims Assistance Program, Community Legal Services, trauma recovery programs, professional training and primary prevention initiatives.
About The Role
The SAFV Centre is committed to providing specialist support services for individual and families of diverse cultural and linguistic (CALD) backgrounds. The Family Violence Case Manager – CALD provides support to individuals and families who are experiencing or have experienced family violence. The case manager is required to understand the gendered and complex nature of family violence and the evidence-based risk factors to continuously assess a client’s risk and safety, while also addressing other support needs identified with the client. 1 This role will predominantly respond to referrals for clients from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and will play a role in building and maintaining relationships with relevant stakeholders. This role will draw on experience working in CALD communities and family violence knowledge to undertake risk assessments, specialised case management and safety planning to promote quality service responses to our clients.
This role is supported by a Team of Specialist Family Violence Case Managers and a Team Leader.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
- A relevant graduate or post graduate qualification in psychology, social work or other relevant
discipline.
- A minimum two years’ relevant experience is desirable.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
- An understanding of the issues relating to sexual and family violence with a gendered feminist, structural, individual and family context.
- An understanding of intersectionality, structural or systemic barriers and how this may impact women and children from CALD backgrounds.
- Experience working with CALD communities and CALD service providers.
- Demonstrated experience and capabilities in assessment and risk management, crisis intervention and case management.
- An understanding of the effects and impact of interpersonal trauma on adults, young people, children and their non-offending families.
- Ability to work within an integrated, multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to advocate, liaise and practice collaboratively across complex systems.
- Demonstrated capacity to apply theoretical frameworks to practice.
- Ability to manage complex and demanding work with a degree of autonomy and to participate as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and confidential case notes.

Period of Appointment
This position is fixed term depending on continuous funding to the service.
Hours of Work
- The position is full time.
- Location of the position is at the Geelong office.
- Hours will usually be worked during business hours of 9.00am to 5.06 pm between Monday
to Friday.
- The days are based on the needs of the service.
- Flexibility in working hours will be required from time to time as the need arises.
Salary and Conditions
Annual salary range is as a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner classification, Level 5 Pay Point 1-3. Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills.
Industrial Instrument: The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre Enterprise Agreement 2023.
Salary Packaging: Provided via Maxxia. PBI status with other expenses available to package above this cap. The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre is a Public Benevolent Institution.
Superannuation: The employer will also make superannuation payments on your behalf in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992.
Probationary Period – 6 months with a review conducted during this time.
